Barn Conversion in Warwickshire countryside

From old barns to sunny South facing Terraces and flower filled borders

The main terraces are south facing and in sun all day, so the sunken seating area with pergola and climbing roses offers some welcome shade for dining and relaxing. A colourful herb garden is separated by an oak frame and a small kitchen garden is discreetly hidden behind a Pyrus hedge. There is a large lawn with large mixed borders planted with a mix of shrubs, perennials and bulbs. The lawn leads to a ha-ha allowing an uninterrupted view to the meadow, pond and woodland.

Old tarmac school playground now a colourful family garden

This garden was once a tarmac school playground. It is now a beautiful garden with a place to sit and dine and a rose parterre. There are two lawns, a garden shed and oak frame car port. We have used a mix of materials to reflect the local vernacular including Hornton stone, red brick and limestone. The curved wall raised bed creates a focal point from inside the house and is planted with roses, perennials, bulbs and Ceanothus, Hebes and yew spheres for winter structure.

An empty close mown paddock transformed into a wildlife haven

This garden has been created for wildlife and to increase biodiversity across the site as well as being an attractive space for the owners to use and look at from their kitchen window. The mown paths through the meadow lead you to a large new pond with an island featuring a duck house. There is a little rowing boat for accessing the island to carry out maintenance. The meadow has been underplanted with bulbs – narcissus and camassia. The pond planting established extremely quickly and the pond soon became a haven for wildlife. It is a wonderful area to walk around and sit on the bench and look back to the house.

A blank canvas

This garden just outside Stratford Upon Avon was a blank canvas of lawn sloping towards the house. Using low retaining walls we created a large sunny terrace with a beautiful water feature. Steps now lead up to a level lawn and a separate seating area. The garden and drive are separated by an oak frame with detail to match the oak frame garage.

A strong and sympathetic link to the house

Previously offices which has been turned into a beautiful family home. The rear of the property was dominated by tarmac car park, which now has two large terraces for eating, entertaining and relaxing. A central path divides the immaculate formal lawn and leads to a covered seat which acts as a focal point from the house and a lovely place to sit and look back and admire the architecture of the building. The lower part of the garden has been laid to lawn and is now a children’s play area. A mid height yew hedge screens the neighbouring houses yet retains the distant views to the race course beyond.
Stone flags and cobble detail has been used to create a strong and sympathetic link to the house

A blank canvas

This new build garden was a blank canvas with a small patio, new lawn and surrounded by bare fences.

The new garden has a path to a large dining terrace in the sunny part of the garden. The arches add height and structure and frame the view from the lounge doors. Planting provides year round interest and colour with a mix of evergreens and perennials. Trees have been carefully positioned to provide privacy.

Every inch of this small town garden works hard

Although this is a small garden, this beautiful garden in Warwick has three distinct areas; a dining area directly outside the kitchen. Steps lead you up to the next level past a striking bespoke water feature which uses some of the old elm boards from the house renovations through a reclaimed timber frame to an outdoor kitchen with bespoke built in sofas, raised planters and a small tool store.

The old stable yard at the rear of the property has been transformed into an incredible formal kitchen garden. Wide concrete paths surround the planting beds, a Medlar avenue and a large lawn with step over apple trees. Some of the old stables have been converted to create a beautiful outdoor dining room and huge outdoor oven.

A vast array of fruit and vegetable are grown here and the kitchen garden is featured in an article from Warwickshire magazine.

High quality materials, beautiful detail

The front garden is south facing, the challenge here was to maintain the front door to receive visitors but also create a private south facing terrace.
This was achieved by building a shaped brick wall to separate the two areas.

High quality materials and beautiful detail has been used throughout.
A timber rail in the Georgian style creates division to large lawn which now looks out across an orchard with chickens roaming freely amongst the trees.

A wall in the drive is the perfect place for espalier peach trees.
